We are so confident in our course content that if you have completed the full four weeks and are still lacking confidence you can have any extra weeks free of charge.
We intentionally choose not to do 6 or 8 week courses because you simply do not need them.
Our four week course covers all you need for your NVQ level 2 so why do more and have to pay us for the pleasure.
Our commitment to you is such that we would rather train you for free than you pay us for any extra weeks.

NATIONAL VOCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
The NVQ is the nationally recognised qualification in this country.
At STC courses we have our own government Train To Gain contract to deliver NVQs and where others still charge you for this qualification we choose not to as part of our commitment to the industry and our trainees.
Our two and four week course covers all you need for your NVQ level 2. The longer the course the less visits you will need from our assessors.
An NVQ is not an exam but simply a collection of evidence proving you are competent, although the courses are 2 or 4 weeks long the assessments take place after you leave the course as an NVQ cannot be delivered in a training centre environment..
An NVQ will be required by 2010 to allow work to be undertaken on building sites and all domestic insurance work .
We will train you, register you and assess you for your NVQ.
The NVQ is a professional qualification recognised by the Construction Industry.
Gaining an NVQ will increase your work opportunities, and win you more customers.
Customers always prefer a qualified trades person.

Tony Fullick the STC training manager wrote the City & Guilds level 2 and 3 diploma qualifications.
It's testament to our success that we were invited by City & Guilds to write this recognised qualification.

We do not just assist you with advice on the work you are doing but will assist with your marketing, pricing, business advice and even tax and bookkeeping.
We have even written tenders for ex students for larger commercial contracts.

If you are unemployed, facing redundancy, or have been made redundant we can either get your course funded through our own funding streams or advise you where you can apply elsewhere in the country. If you call the head office on 01279 723270 we can do an immediate assessment to see if you qualify.
If for some reason you can't train with us, here are a few questions you should ask of any training center
- How long has the centre been training
- Do you deliver NVQs. (The centre should be accredited to deliver NVQs at level 2 or above, even if you are being trained to work in the domestic market where you do not need an official qualification at the moment this should be a minimum training requirement)./li>
- Is the NVQ level two funded by the government or is there an extra cost on top of the course price ( you should not be charged for your NVQ level 2 as any reputable company would have their own government funding).
- Do they supply seven days per week support after the courses
- Do they do advanced courses to expand my skill set such as Victorian tiling and Bisazza Mozaic.
- Do they supply a comprehensive training manual that covers the course in its entirety that I can keep and use as a reference.
- Do they help you find work after the course ( you will need a marketing plan to get work as a self employed tiler)
- Can they supply work ( All reputable training centres will have contract work available on a national basis, do not just take their word for it though ask to see proof of the contracts and the people working on them)
- Do they have their own LSC (learning Skills Council) contract... this is not essential but would show that the training centre has government recognition.
- Can you see the last two years testimonials ( every past candidate should fill in a feedback form, if the company trains ex forces personnel then they would have to fill in government feedback questionnaires) .
- Are you members of the TTA The Tile Association.
You will require a CSCS card to work on any building site, the basic card shows your competency in health and safety but the purpose of the card is to indicate the skill you have been trained in.
To gain a CSCS skilled worker card you must have the relevant qualifications.
For a ceramic tiler you must have a level 2 NVQ to get a CSCS card and you will not be allowed on a building site without it.
