1 Week Tiling Course
Our 1 week tiling course is aimed at those who have some experience in tiling and wish to upgrade their skills and knowledge. This includes setting out, practical tiling in their own full size tiling bay / room, cutting for difficult shapes, understanding different adhesives, grouts and applications. For the advanced tiler the one week tiling course can be bespoke designed specifically for a particular need or in its preset format is the perfect DIY tiling course.2 Week Tiling Course
This 2 week tiling course is for total beginners wishing to develop basic tiling skills towards becoming a professional tiler. Some practical aptitude is necessary.It includes setting out, introduction to common adhesives and grouts, toolkits explained, how to cut and fix wall tiles, practice in applying tiles in your own allocated full size training bay / room, introduction to underfloor heating systems. Also an overview on business start-up.
4 Week Tiling Course
The ultimate tiling course for those who intend to become Professional Tilers.This includes the two week tiling course but in addition includes; more complex work, more complex grouts and adhesives, dealing with natural stone, sealing stone to prevent staining, solutions to common problems, underfloor heating systems, tanking systems, floor tiling practice, tiling a complete room as a final test. Also includes starting your own tiling business, book keeping, getting business, how to estimate and quote for tiling jobs.
Tiling Course Guest Speakers
In addition to the above, guest speakers from major tile and adhesive manufacturers will also be invited to give short talks on their products and how to use their help lines.These talks will be available to all those attending our tiling courses.
Training Centre Opening Times
Monday to Thursday 8:30am - 4:30pm, Friday 8:30am - 1:00pm.
Tiling courses will finish approximately 1pm on Fridays.
Bank holidays: where a bank holiday exists days will be extended to make up the lost day.
Tiling course details include: -
Starting out in a tiling business, business bank accounts, accountants, national insurance, tax, insurance, public liability, VAT, being self-employment etc.
How to market your tiling business, advise on how and where to advertise, approximate costs, using the internet, getting publicity etc.
Quoting for jobs, how to measure up the job (floors/walls), setting out the quote, common mistakes etc.
Health and safety on the job site.
Tools - which tools you will require, what tool to use for each job, what they cost, how often they need replacing, general maintenance etc.
Which adhesives to use for which job (floors/walls), how much they cost, coverage areas etc
How to tile in straight and diagonal layouts.
How to set out a job for general floors, kitchen/bathroom walls, toilets and large floors including theory, marking out and cutting around difficult objects.
Tiling around a toilet system, window, basin, bath etc.
Problems you will face on site: pipes, power sockets, angled ceilings, uneven walls, etc
Tiling with slate, terracotta, granite, tumbled marble, mosaics, quarry tiles, unglazed tiles, limestone etc.
How to complete different aspects of tiling (borders, patterns, wavy edged tiles, plaques, diamond, octagonal).
Our 2 & 4 week tiling courses also include training on how to lay underfloor heating.
All trainees passing through the course can take advantage of our FREE advice line open weekdays between 7am and 7pm for help and advice on all aspects of tiling which will provide invaluable backup and peace of mind!
